Scholarships
These scholarships take a holistic approach in consideration of your academic talents, financial need, and other factors to make award determinations. Students who qualify will receive scholarship awards at time of admission. Scholarship awards are a combination of institutional and foundation funding.
We encourage all students to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov.
Application for Admissions Awards
Application
No extra application required.
You are automatically considered for an academic scholarship based on eligibility criteria and information provided in your application for admission; first-time students with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and transfer students with a total college cumulative GPA 2.8 or higher will initially be considered. Additionally, the Admissions office will review your full academic portfolio to determine a merit scholarship offer.

Renewal
Each year, FSU Financial Aid Office reviews students' GPA and credits for renewable Admissions scholarships. They also verify the per term requirements of at least 12 credit enrollment and a minimum GPA of 2.5. Students can appeal the cancellation of their scholarship one time with extenuating circumstances and an academic plan. Final semester students not meeting credit requirements can also appeal. Appeals must be submitted before the end of the add/drop period. Successful appeals must meet specific award criteria. FSU Foundation awards have a separate review process.
Academic Scholarships
Academic scholarships are sometimes referred to as merit awards and are renewable. Such awards are eligible to newly admitted first-time and transfer students. Such awards help offset the cost of tuition. Students are only eligible for one merit award. It is important to make sure Admissions has your final high-school transcript for most accurate awarding and to meet all admissions and financial aid requirements.
Athletic Scholarships
Frostburg State University hosts 25 NCAA Division II men’s and women’s sports—and we offer competitive athletic scholarships to student-athletes. Consideration and awarding of athletic scholarships are determined by the coaching staff of each sport based on ability and program needs.
