Transfer Students
Transferring to a new university is a big step, and at Frostburg State University, we want to help you make an informed choice.
If you have graduated from high school (or the equivalent) and enrolled in college courses, you can be considered for transfer admission. Our admission counselors review each application carefully, taking into consideration your academic background, life experiences and interests.
We accept transfer credit from regionally accredited institutions and institutions that are candidates for regional accreditation.

I am a transfer student from a large university. In comparison, the engagement I share with my professors at FSU is astronomical. I am proud to say that I would not want to get my education anywhere else.

Credit Evaluation
Shortly after being admitted, students will receive a preliminary transfer credit evaluation. This will indicate which courses taken at other institutions will transfer to Frostburg State, and how they match up with our courses. It will include pending credit for any courses in which you are currently enrolled. Credit will be awarded for courses equivalent to those offered by Frostburg State and completed with a grade of D or better with the exception of English and math which require a grade of C or better. Once your current term is complete, you will send complete and official transcripts for all your college work for an official credit transfer. Our advisors will then be able to work with you to schedule appropriate courses given your transfer credit and academic goals.
Transfer Agreements
Frostburg State has established partnerships with several Maryland and West Virginia colleges to help transfer students find their most efficient route to a bachelor’s degree.
Scholarships
Transfer students are automatically considered for academic scholarships, and are eligible to apply for a variety of Frostburg State institutional and departmental scholarships.
